Our Team

Dr. Joyce Richardson, DVM

Dr. Richardson graduated from the University of Guelph with a BSc in Microbiology and returned to Guelph, attending the Ontario Veterinary College, to complete her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1997.  She has been practicing at Beaverdale Veterinary Clinic since graduation.

Outside of clinic hours, Joyce enjoys life on a mixed-animal farm with her husband and two sons.  When not quilting, gardening or perfecting her goat cheese she will be found at the barn helping her son care for his flock of sheep, grooming and riding her horses or perhaps even taking her herd of goats out with the dogs for a field walk!

Sierra, Registered Veterinary Technician

Sierra completed the Veterinary Technician course at Sheridan College in 2018 and has been working at Beaverdale Veterinary Clinic since graduating.  She easily exemplifies kindness and patience with every animal that comes into the clinic and has a magical, never-ending pocket of treats always on hand!  Her quiet demeanor hides a quippy sense of humour that keeps us all laughing.

Sierra is an avid reader and gives great Netflix recommendations.  Her vacations are spent outdoors, camping and exploring provincial parks.  She shares her space at home with an eclectic menagerie of cats, dogs, a Ball python named Orbit and a turtle!

Megan, Veterinary Technician

Megan is another one of our Veterinary Technicians. She graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Northern College in 2016. She started working at Beaverdale in the later months of 2022 and it has been a pleasure having her around! Megan has a special interest in companion animal physical rehabilitation.

Outside of working, she enjoys spending time with her family and her adorable 5 year old Shiba Inu named Kobe! She can also be found crafting in her free time and it is undoubtedly a natural talent of hers. She also enjoys baking and the staff sure is delighted when she treats us with her delectable delights!

Karen, Front Desk Reception/ Animal Care Attendant

Karen is the longest serving employee at Beaverdale Veterinary Clinic and many of our clients will easily recognize her voice each time they call.  Karen has gift for remembering each animal and client by name and provides a warm welcome to everyone entering the clinic, treating all like a part of the Beaverdale Veterinary Clinic family.   Karen’s experience at the clinic carries a wealth of knowledge and she assists with appointments and surgeries, always carefully attending to the wellbeing and comfort of our four-legged guests and she excels at providing a listening ear to any worry of the owner.

When she isn’t spoiling the rest of the staff with her home-baked goodies Karen will be at home gardening, enjoying her own brood of four-legged, furry friends or visiting with her children and much beloved “grand-babies.”

Catherine, Front Desk Reception/ Animal Care Attendant

Catherine graduated in 2017 with a diploma in Veterinary Office Administration, and as a Certified Veterinary Assistant, and joined the team at Beaverdale Veterinary Clinic in 2021.  It is hard to imagine the clinic without her.

Catherine’s work, from answering the phones to assisting in appointments and surgeries, is done with meticulous care.  She will always find the answers to any of your questions and all of the animals respond to her patient and thoughtful manner.  She has always had a passion to help animals and is always looking for opportunities to expand her knowledge within the veterinary industry.  Her kindness, sense of humour and gift for story-telling are always much appreciated at the clinic.

In her downtime, Catherine enjoys spending time with her husband and children, as well as her two rescue dogs and cat.   She fills her days by enjoying the outdoors on foot or by dirt bike. She can also be found buried in textbooks as she is currently studying to become a Registered Veterinary Technician!

Chloe, Front Desk Reception

The clinic is happy to have Chloe join us at our front desk during her university breaks and our clients will appreciate chipper and friendly voice at the end of the phone. Always eager to help out, you’ll also assisting with animal weigh-ins and providing extra snuggles during appointment.

A keen viewer of “The Great Canadian Bake-Off,” Chloe loves to experiment with baking delicious treats. Any other moment she has to spare is dedicated to her horse Fille.

Tonia, Front Desk Reception/ Animal Care Attendant

Tonia started her veterinary career at Beaverdale Veterinary Clinic in 2017 and we all celebrated with her when she was accepted at the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in 2020, with an anticipated graduation date of 2024.  She has wanted to be a veterinarian since, as a child, she stumbled upon James Harriot’s, All Creatures Great and Small, in her grandmother’s attic.

Tonia brings much joy into the clinic when she is able to pick up shifts between classes and semesters.  She truly enjoys getting to know each client and their pets believing, as we all do, in the greater “Beaverdale Veterinary Clinic” family.   Tonia participates in all aspects of animal, and client, care at the clinic and is always happy to take time for a brief chat with the owners and a quick snuggle with the pets.

School and work keep her very busy but she manages to find some free time during which she enjoys rock climbing, exploring new and favourite recipes with her partner and for friends, and snuggling down with her two mischievous cats, Tink and Salem.

Deb, Front Desk Reception

Deb began working at Beaverdale in late 2022. Ever since her first day on the job, Deb fit right into the Beaverdale family with her kindness and eagerness to help. You can find her at the front desk eagerly greeting all of our four legged patients and their human owners! When not working, Deb enjoys spending time with her family and 2 giant fur babies (seriously…..furry!) Ben and Georgia! She also likes spending time in the garden.
